For those students who are struggling to conquer decoding, we use a dynamic and comprehensive approach to tackling phonics and mastering sight words. By focusing on word-attack skills and using imagery to strengthen letter and sound recognition, we provide students with the right tools to become capable and confident readers.
WRITING TUTORING
Express Ideas.
For many students, synthesizing and expressing information through writing can be a struggle. Utilizing exercises to improve students' organization of thought and clarity of expression will give them the confidence to apply their ideas to written work. By providing students with the key tools to identify main ideas and organize ideas and information, they will soon tackle writing prompts with ease.
MATH TUTORING
Visualize Possibilities.
Many students have difficulty with conceptualizing values and manipulating them mentally. This can make math lessons a struggle for students to understand. With number-sense training, students will develop a stronger understanding of the relationships between values and operations as well as gain the skills necessary to visualize effectively.
COMPREHENSION TUTORING
Engage with Stories.
Some students appear to be effective readers--until it comes to comprehension. Many are adept decoders, but struggle with visualizing or monitoring for understanding. For these students, instruction utilizing visualization and verbalization exercises will teach them to read for understanding, and open their minds to the wonders of the written word.

FLUX LEARNING
Welcome, visitors! My name is Janelle Gomez, I am the founder and Academic Interventionist of Flux Learning. Flux was born from my dream of helping others reach their fullest potential.
I have always been passionate about teaching and learning, and I have noticed a significant need for instruction that is designed with the student's individual needs in mind. Every person learns in their own way, so there is no one-size-fits-all way to teach. For this reason, I work mostly one-on-one with students to address their specific needs and give them the tools to regain their confidence, both in and beyond the classroom.
In over ten years of experience working in education, I have worked with a wide range of students from pre-schoolers to adult learners. Some of the learners I have worked with had diagnosed learning differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, ASD, and more. Whatever the diagnosis or difficulty, I firmly believe every child is capable of learning and making progress given the right tools, support, and environment.
